@matigo Why do you dislike it?
@sumudu Hello. I am ok. Not as good this week as last - very up and down, which apparently is to be expected. Had a chat with my doctor today and have been signed off work for another two weeks, which takes me up to when I’m on leave for a week. Just finished the first of six online CBT webinars which I’m attending. First was on sleep, quite useful. There are others on negative thinking, being positive, stress management etc, so hopefully I’ll learn some good techniques.
@matigo I don’t know I’d get far with my nickname - Nessie. Mind you, I tend to spell it with a y instead of the ie.
@larand Oh noooooo!! I saw the breaking news about the fire, haven’t looked for an update. It is/was such a superb building. When I went, we went up to the top and had stunning views across Paris. One of the outstanding pieces of world architecture and a place with a wonderful atmosphere. Heartbreaking.
@ukhaiku Hello there. I’m ok. Currently off sick and having counselling; various stresses finally took their toll. Getting there, though.
@matigo Just a few songs from each.
@matigo Easter Sunday family service. All ok, except that the anthem is the Hallelujah Chorus. Another tough piece with lots of notes to play. And it’s loud, which on this organ means more physical effort.
At the end of May there’s a music festival - church choir, choral society both involved, so I’ll be busy too.
At the start of June it’s our summer concert - music from Les Mis, Phantom, Joseph & others.
@matigo Yes quite a lot. It’s a new piece to me so I had to learn all of it. Regular Friday evening practices for a couple of months and 1-2 midweek practices with the soloists. Worth it though because they performed superbly and it was very polished. We worked hard on interpretation & it showed. One of the wives said I get performances out of the guys that no-one else can. As I’m no singer that’s praise indeed. But I am a good accompanist & I worked with a lot of singers at university.
Oh yes. Me, the choir & the soloists totally nailed the “performance” this evening. Palm Sunday evensong is always a single piece of music. First time I have done this one and it’s an awful lot of playing. Congregation loved it.
2.5 hours until I have to make lots of noise on an organ. 1.5 hours until a last-minute practice and warm-up. 3.5 hours until it’s all done & I can relax a bit - until next weekend and my attempt at the Hallelujah Chorus. There’s nothing subtle about Easter Sunday!
